Historique

History
The castle of Moustoirlan is one of the most successful, most accomplished classical buildings of Morbihan, a residence where the most rigorous symmetry, the general organization of the programme, the perfection of stereotomy are bound to astonish in this rural sector where the 18th century has left no notable trace. Trace of the seigneury is found in 1448 when it belonged to Jean de Kerriec. It then fell under the domain of the Rohan in the castellany of Pontivy. No visible trace of a construction prior to the years 1760 is preserved. In 1765, the date of its repurchase by J.-B. Le Cam, mayor of Pontivy, the construction of the castle was begun. It continues until the date of the blessing of the chapel bell in 1781. The general plan of the main dwelling is very compact and not elongated as was the fashion then. The salon does not occupy the central space, to the benefit of the staircase placed in the axial vestibule (old-fashioned arrangement). Here it is the regional practice that prevails through the absence of decoration (a few rather dry panels), which refers back to a model close to that of the malouinière of la Ville Bague, built around 1715. The chapel possesses furnishings that are quite interesting.
