Castle built under the direction of architect Olivier Delourme for the comte de Coëlogen. The estate comprises, besides the castle which stands at the far end of the courtyard of honour, two entrance pavillons serving one as a chapel, the other as a dwelling for the steward; the farm; the kitchen garden. The setting is completed by ponds, terraces and avenues. In rubble stone masonry with render and corner chains, the castle has a ground floor and two storeys on the side of the courtyard of honour. The rear façade, owing to the slope of the terrain, has only one storey. Interior richness is evident in the reception rooms and apartments. ££A first castle had been built between 1153 and 1185. From this fortress, moats survive to the south. A second castle was constructed at the location of the first in the early 14th century. This manor was a large fortified house, enclosed by walls and possessing a chapel and a dovecote. At the end of the 17th century, as this manor was threatening to fall into ruin, its reconstruction was considered and began with the lower court, the enclosure and the two entrance pavillons. The present castle was built from 1718.
