Historique
Une première forteresse, bâtie en 1008 par le vicomte de Porthoët, est détruite en 1168 par Henri II Plantagenet. Au 12e siècle, construction d'une place forte renforcée au 14e siècle par une ligne de courtines reliant neuf tours. Entre 1490 et 1510, reconstruction du manoir d'habitation et édification de la façade Renaissance sur cour. En 1629, au cours de la lutte contre les Huguenots, Richelieu fait abattre le donjon. Aux 17e et 18e siècles, le château est délaissé puis utilisé comme prison. Vers 1760, destruction des tours flanquant la première porte. Restaurations au 19e siècle.

History
A first fortress, built in 1008 by the viscount of Porthoët, is destroyed in 1168 by Henry II Plantagenet. Around 1760, destruction of the towers flanking the first gate. Restorations in the 19th century.
