Historique

History
The main body dates from the 17th century. It rests to the east on a large tower from the 14th and a French staircase in granite accompanied by some ancillary constructions. The west part comprising two turrets and an entrance was remade in the 19th century under Charles X, in the gothic style. Also remaining from the 14th century is an isolated tower to the north-east and the base of two other towers supporting the north terrace or taken within the moat. For several centuries, the château held a preponderant role in the defence of Brittany, by virtue of its position on the road from Rennes to Vannes and the navigable waterway from Brest to Nantes. It distinguished itself in 1591 and 1592 by resisting the troops of Henri IV. The oldest owners date back to 1149.
