This ensemble is an interesting witness to commemorative architecture of the early 19th century. The composition is of great quality and draws its effects from lawns, sloped banquettes and planted arrangements that accentuate its monumental character. The chapel was built in 1824 to commemorate the memory of French émigrés who, after landing in June 1795 on the Quiberon peninsula and at Carnac, were arrested and then condemned to death by the authorities in place. The edifice, work of the architect Caristie, presents itself as a four-column prostyle temple in neoclassical style. Inside, the marble altar is surmounted by a neoclassical retable.
