Historique
L'église Notre-Dame a été fondée vers 1060 par Robert Ier de Vitré et donnée en 1116 à l'abbaye Saint-Melaine de Rennes. Elle a été presque entièrement reconstruite aux 15e et 16e siècles : ne subsiste de l'ancienne église que le choeur, dont les fenestrages ont été modifiés au 15e siècle. La façade sud, construite en deux campagnes (1480-1500 et 1530-1540) présente sept pignons séparés par des contreforts à pinacles. Elle s'orne d'une très belle chaire à prêcher. La façade ouest date des années 1580, sa porte a conservé ses vantaux d'origine, datés 1586. Le collatéral et le croisillon nord ont été reconstruits en 1467. La flèche de la tour centrale (1420-1442) a été reconstruite en pierre en 1858.

History
The church of Notre-Dame was founded around 1060 by Robert I of Vitré and given in 1116 to the abbey of Saint-Melaine of Rennes. It was almost entirely rebuilt in the 15th and 16th centuries: only the choir survives from the old church, its window openings having been modified in the 15th century. The south façade, built in two campaigns (1480-1500 and 1530-1540) presents seven gables separated by buttresses with pinnacles. It is adorned with a very fine pulpit. The west façade dates from the 1580s, its door has retained its original leaves, dated 1586. The aisle and north transept were rebuilt in 1467. The spire of the central tower (1420-1442) was rebuilt in stone in 1858.
