Anciennement maison de corsaire, l'hôtel White ou Hay a été construit en 1711 par le négociant armateur d'origine irlandaise Guillaume White. Elle servait d'entrée monumentale de la ville. History
Formerly a privateer's house, the White or Hay hôtel was constructed in 1711 by the merchant shipowner of Irish origin Guillaume White. It served as the monumental entrance to the city. The main dwelling of rectangular plan, entirely constructed in large dressed granite, comprises a ground floor with arcades, three storeys with very tall windows, separated by bands, and an attic storey pierced with dormers. This building was part of Chateaubriand's childhood memories.
