History
Commissioned in 1724-1725 by François Auguste Magon, director of the East India Company, this building is exemplary of the urban dwelling of a Malouine merchant. Based on the classical model of the Parisian hôtel with courtyard and garden, it is exemplary of the influence of the military engineers of the period (such as Siméon Garengeau), whose regular façades, standardized decoration limited to the technique of continuous rustication, and the style of the entrance portal are testimony.
