Edifice construit en 1730 et 1750 par le comte de la Bourdonnaye-Blossac, en englobant l'ancien hôtel de Brie datant du 17e siècle. Dès son édification, le bâtiment fut loué par la communauté de ville pour servir d'habitation au commandant en chef de la province de Bretagne, de 1732 à 1789. Pendant l'époque révolutionnaire, l'hôtel est le théâtre de manifestations populaires. Après la Révolution, l'hôtel fut loué à divers particuliers. L'écrivain Paul Féval y naquit en 1816. L'hôtel est l'une des oeuvres les plus représentatives de l'architecture du 18e siècle à Rennes.

History
Building constructed in 1730 and 1750 by the comte de la Bourdonnaye-Blossac, incorporating the old hôtel de Brie dating from the 17th century. From its construction, the building was rented by the town community to serve as residence for the commander-in-chief of the province of Brittany, from 1732 to 1789. During the revolutionary period, the hôtel was the scene of popular demonstrations. After the Revolution, the hôtel was rented to various individuals. The writer Paul Féval was born there in 1816. The hôtel is one of the most representative works of 18th-century architecture in Rennes.
