Situé sur la terre seigneuriale de Monthorin, dépendant de la baronnie de Fougères, le château de Monthorin a été construit au 17e siècle sur l'emplacement de l'ancien manoir par Gilles Ruëllan, seigneur de Tiercent. De plan rectangulaire, le château est de style Louis XIII en brique avec encadrements des baies, bandeaux et motifs en pierre. Acquis sous le premier Empire par le général de la Riboisière, le château est agrandi par l'adjonction de deux ailes en retour d'équerre flanquées de tourelles polygonales, et l'intérieur entièrement remanié. Le jardin et le parc sont aménagés, et une chapelle funéraire construite.

History
Located on the seigneurial land of Monthorin, dependent on the barony of Fougères, the château of Monthorin was built in the 17th century on the site of the old manor by Gilles Ruëllan, lord of Tiercent. Of rectangular plan, the château is of Louis XIII style in brick with bay framings, string courses and motifs in stone. Acquired under the First Empire by the general de la Riboisière, the château is enlarged by the addition of two wings set at right angles flanked by polygonal turrets, and the interior entirely remodelled. The garden and park are laid out, and a funerary chapel built.
