L'église Saint-Sulpice, fondée au 11e siècle au pied du château, fut la première église paroissiale de Fougères. Elle a été reconstruite à partir du 15e siècle, en commençant par la nef, dans un style gothique flamboyant. Le choeur, commencé au 16e siècle, ne fut achevé qu'en 1760. L'intérieur a conservé deux des derniers retables médiévaux de Bretagne, dont le retable nord offert par le duc de Bretagne. La chapelle des tanneurs a conservé quelques restes de vitraux du 16e siècle, réalisés par Pierre Symon.

History
The church of Saint-Sulpice, founded in the 11th century at the foot of the château, was the first parish church of Fougères. It was rebuilt from the 15th century onwards, beginning with the nave, in a flamboyant Gothic style. The choir, begun in the 16th century, was not completed until 1760. The interior has retained two of the last medieval altarpieces of Brittany, including the north altarpiece offered by the Duke of Brittany. The chapel of the tanners has preserved some remains of stained glass of the 16th century, executed by Pierre Symon.
