History

The château of Boschet was built between 1660 and 1680 for Pierre de Lescouët, first chamberlain of the Duke of Orléans, in replacement of the old manoir. It is composed of a large rectangular dwelling body, of double plan in depth, comprising a ground floor and a floor with Mansart roof and four corner pavilions mounted on squinches. On the west side, the château is bordered by two less elevated buildings constructed in right-angle return, one serving as chapel, the other as archives. Inside the château is found a magnificent monumental staircase with white stone balustrades. A second campaign of works, between 1720 and 1740, saw the complete refurbishment of the interior of the dwelling, completed by two independent wings in right-angle return, to the west, terminating in rounded masses, one comprising the chapel, the other a service area. In the course of the years 1740-1750 an ordered garden was created incorporating an orangery and outbuildings. The outbuildings are formed of three wings arranged in a U; they bear witness to a concern for architecture and integration into the environment with the high round-arch arcades which incorporate the windows; the timber roof structure is original. The whole underwent very few modifications in the 19th century. The château was sold on 14 April 2022, by the SCI château du Boschet, to private owners.
