L'abbaye cistercienne du Relecq fut fondée le 30 juillet 1132 par sept moines provenant de l'abbaye de Bégar. L'église actuelle date pour la majeure partie de cette époque, mais elle a subi des remaniements : percement de baies dans le collatéral nord et dans les chapelles latérales du choeur au 13e siècle, percement de baies dans le collatéral sud, réfection des pignons du même collatéral et du choeur à la fin du 15e siècle, et enfin, démolition des deux premières travées de la nef et reconstruction de la façade occidentale en 1785. History
The Cistercian abbey of Relecq was founded on 30 July 1132 by seven monks from the abbey of Bégar. The present church dates for the most part from this period, but it has undergone alterations: piercing of openings in the north aisle and in the lateral chapels of the choir in the 13th century, piercing of openings in the south aisle, rebuilding of the gables of the same aisle and the choir at the end of the 15th century, and finally, demolition of the first two bays of the nave and reconstruction of the western façade in 1785. The 17th-century monastic buildings survive only as vestiges.
