History

Located 18 km south-west of Quimper and 4 km west-north-west of Pont l'Abbé, in the commune of Plonéour-Lanvern, the manoir of Trévilit raises its 15th-century walls above the plain which surrounds it. The main dwelling body, comprising only a ground floor and a first floor, includes a central section pierced by eight mullioned windows distributed around a moulded door in basket-handle form, surmounted by a lancet and flanked by pilasters with fleurons. This continues through a wing linking the chapel to the main manoir. This wing comprises only a ground floor and a roof space lit by dormers with flat pediments. At the end of this building stands the chapel forming a corner pavilion, but limited to the east and west by a gable. Closing the courtyard to the north is the defensive wall furnished with its corbels which formerly supported the wall of the machicolated parapet walk. Inside the manoir, one can observe several monumental chimneys in granite carved with floral ornaments. South of this complex and separated from it by 35 metres, opens a vast enclosure intended to shelter people and beasts from the surrounding area in case of attack. The wall, 150 metres long by approximately 85 metres wide, was pierced by a few loopholes allowing its defence.
