Historique

History
Located on the edge of the Ellez river to the north (which became a lake at this location following the creation of a hydroelectric plant which unfortunately channelled the finest waterfall in Brittany, with a drop of 70 metres), this building consists of a manor with three enclosures: from north to south, the vegetable garden, then the main dwelling and its outbuildings, sheds, mangers, wells, threshing floor, dovecote, and, lower down, the orchard. The ensemble is situated at the summit of a hill near the chapel of Saint-Herbot (classified) where important fairs and a pardon took place in the early 16th century. The first lord of Rusquec appeared in 1427 at the reformation, and the oldest archives of the manor preserved in the Archives départementales du Finistère are later than the early 16th century. It would seem that part of the construction that has come down to us is the work of Anceau du Rusquec, who died in 1522, who married in 1480 Françoise de Rosnyvinen, and of his son, Anne Jehan, who died in 1536. A main dwelling body was added to the north in the middle of the 17th century; this is partly housed (work of Alan de Kerlech du Chastel, married to Renée de Lannion in 1637; see acknowledgement of 1653 preserved in the Archives départementales).
