Historique
Description

History
The castle of Kergroadès was built between 1602 and 1613, according to a plan inspired by that of the castle of Kerjean, built some forty years earlier: it is constituted by three wings arranged in U around a courtyard closed by a gallery, with four pavilions at the angles. If the internal distribution is also inspired by that of Kerjean, the architecture is distinguished by its severity. Remaining in the family of Kergroadès until 1732, the castle underwent no modification under the Ancien Régime. The property was placed under sequester at the end of the 18th century, which caused the liquidation of doors, windows, and roof structure in 1807. Repurchased by the Chevillotte family in a ruined state, it was restored in 1913-1914: the roof structure, the roofing, all the joinery and interior fittings were entirely remade ab nihilo. The masonry appears, however, to have undergone no modification.
