L'hôtel de Brienne connut des locataires célèbres : les LA VRILLIERE et les CONTI sous l'Ancien Régime ; Lucien BONAPARTE et Mme Mère sous l'Empire ; le Général de Gaulle à la Libération. L'hôtel de Brienne est acheté par l'Etat en 1817 et celui de Broglie en 1834.
