L'immeuble a été édifié en 1668 pour l'historiographe Gilles de Launay. Il se trouvait sur l'emprise de l'ancien Pré aux Clercs, appartenant à l'université de Paris, enclavé dans le territoire de l'abbaye de Saint-Germain des Prés. Il se présente comme deux corps de logis sur rue. Une porte cochère sépare ces deux bâtiments et communique sur la cour. History
The building was erected in 1668 for the historiographer Gilles de Launay. It stood on the site of the former Pré aux Clercs, belonging to the University of Paris, enclosed within the territory of the Abbey of Saint-Germain des Prés. It consists of two main dwellings fronting the street. A carriage gate separates these two buildings and opens onto the courtyard. At the back of the plot, another building in which the staircase develops unites the two main dwellings. The original staircase, with four newels, in timber framing, was removed during the 18th century to be replaced by another, with a wrought iron ramp with a simple arcade. On the street side, the two shops are attested from 1668, as are the openings of the façades.
