La villa des Brillants, modeste résidence bourgeoise de style néo-Louis XIII datant de la deuxième moitié du 19e siècle, est acquise par le sculpteur Auguste Rodin en 1894. Après 1900, il fait construire dans le parc un pavillon à usage d'atelier. L'ensemble est légué à l'Etat à la mort du sculpteur en novembre 1917. Rodin est enterré dans le parc. Le musée est construit en 1928 par l'architecte Henri Favier. Il incorpore des vestiges de l'ancien château d'Issy-les-Moulineaux, datant de la fin du 17e siècle et achetés par Rodin lors de sa démolition en 1903. £

The villa des Brillants, a modest bourgeois residence in neo-Louis XIII style dating from the second half of the 19th century, is acquired by sculptor Auguste Rodin in 1894. After 1900, he has a pavilion built in the park for use as a studio. The whole is bequeathed to the State upon the death of the sculptor in November 1917. Rodin is buried in the park. The museum is built in 1928 by architect Henri Favier. It incorporates remains of the former château d'Issy-les-Moulineaux, dating from the end of the 17th century and bought by Rodin at its demolition in 1903.
