History
This castle testifies to the importance of the seigniory of Yerres throughout the Middle Ages and its proximity to the crown of France. The present buildings result from several campaigns of work. However, dispositions dating from the 12th century are still visible: the circular enclosure and a seigniorial dwelling organized according to a classic plan of hall-chambers-chapel. The celebrated Hellenist Guillaume Budé, at the origin of the creation of the Bibliothèque nationale and the Collège de France, was related to the Budé family, holders of the seigniory from the end of the 14th century.
