Vers 1630, le président au parlement de Paris, René de Longueil, charge François Mansart de la construction d'un château à Maisons-sur-Seine. Le château est inauguré en 1651, en présence de Louis XIV et de la régente Anne d'Autriche. En 1777, le comte d'Artois acquiert le domaine. En 1804, le maréchal Lannes, duc de Montebello achète le château et le parc et le fait réaménager. En 1818, le banquier Jacques Lafitte rachète le domaine, fait lotir le grand parc et démolit les écuries. Après plusieurs propriétaires successifs pendant la seconde moitié du 19e siècle, l'Etat achète le château en 1905.

History
Around 1630, the president of the Paris parliament, René de Longueil, commissioned François Mansart with the construction of a castle at Maisons-sur-Seine. The castle was inaugurated in 1651, in the presence of Louis XIV and the regent Anne d'Autriche. In 1777, the comte d'Artois acquired the estate. In 1804, Marshal Lannes, Duke of Montebello purchased the castle and park and had it refurbished. In 1818, the banker Jacques Lafitte repurchased the estate, had the large park divided into lots and demolished the stables. After several successive owners during the second half of the 19th century, the State purchased the castle in 1905.
