Historique

History
A first fortress is built around 1235, and ruined at the beginning of the 16th century. The construction of a new castle is undertaken from 1580, probably by the architect Baptiste Androuet du Cerceau. The latter uses the foundations of the old fortress and adopts the rectangular plan allowing a modern symmetrical construction. The gardens, represented on a map of the king's hunts from the beginning of the 18th century, consist of parterres in front of the main dwelling, extended by a demi-lune and a goose-foot that open onto the woods. In 1863, the comtesse de Lancosme keeps only the central body and has the rest demolished. The central building is internally transformed. The gardens are transformed into a landscape park by Denis Bühler.
