L'église serait bâtie sur les vestiges d'une ancienne chapelle mérovingienne dont il ne reste aucune trace apparente. Entreprise dans la seconde moitié du 12e siècle, la construction fut achevée vers 1250. Elle fit ensuite l'objet de nombreux aménagements tant sur le plan architectural (15e-16e siècle) que pour la décoration intérieure (17e-18e siècle). Elle fut entièrement restaurée à la fin du 19e siècle. Le cimetière se développait autour de l'église. Au centre de la place s'élève un peuplier, arbre de la Liberté planté par le général de Lafayette en 1831.

History
The church is said to be built on the remains of an ancient Merovingian chapel of which no apparent trace remains. Undertaken in the second half of the 12th century, construction was completed around 1250. It subsequently underwent numerous alterations both on the architectural plane (15th-16th century) and for interior decoration (17th-18th century). It was entirely restored at the end of the 19th century. The cemetery developed around the church. In the centre of the square stands a poplar, Tree of Liberty planted by General Lafayette in 1831.
