Historique
Un café est attesté en 1905 à cette adresse, à l'angle de la rue de Charonne sur la partie de l'avenue Ledru-Rollin ouverte en 1895. Il s'installe au rez-de-chaussée d'un immeuble construit en 1902 par l'architecte Julien Galopin. La devanture est composée d'un coffrage de bois vernis avec des arabesques Art Nouveau. A l'intérieur, le décor comporte deux panneaux de céramique (non signés) représentant des figures féminines, allégories vraisemblablement de l'été et du printemps. L'établissement s'appelle en 1997 "Le Bistrot du Peintre" après avoir été "Le Carrefour", puis "La Palette Bastille". L'enseigne d'origine, "A Jean Pierre, vins, liqueurs, bières, café, billard" est encore lisible sous la marquise.

History
A café is attested at this address in 1905, at the corner of rue de Charonne on the part of avenue Ledru-Rollin opened in 1895. It was established on the ground floor of a building constructed in 1902 by the architect Julien Galopin. The shopfront consists of varnished wooden casing with Art Nouveau arabesques. Inside, the decoration includes two ceramic panels (unsigned) depicting female figures, presumably allegories of summer and spring. The establishment was called "Le Bistrot du Peintre" in 1997 after being "Le Carrefour", then "La Palette Bastille". The original sign, "A Jean Pierre, wines, spirits, beers, coffee, billiards" is still legible beneath the awning.
