Historique
Fontaine anciennement située 177, rue du Faubourg-Saint-Martin. C'est le seul exemplaire subsistant des quinze fontaines qui furent élevées dans le faubourg Saint-Martin par souscription des riverains. Elles furent mises en place en 1848, sous le préfectorat de Rambuteau. La signature du sculpteur André Martin figure sur les volutes entre les deux tritons. Les fontaines ont été coulées par l'association fraternelle des ouvriers du bronze. Sur un socle barlong, aux angles abattus, qui comporte deux mascarons crachant l'eau sur les longs pans, sont accroupis deux tritons qui supportent une fausse vasque occupée par un enfant nu assis sur un dauphin.

History
Fountain formerly situated at 177, rue du Faubourg-Saint-Martin. It is the only surviving example of the fifteen fountains that were erected in the faubourg Saint-Martin by subscription of the local residents. They were put in place in 1848, under the prefecture of Rambuteau. The signature of the sculptor André Martin appears on the volutes between the two tritons. The fountains were cast by the fraternal association of bronze workers. On a barlong pedestal, with chamfered angles, which has two mascarons spouting water on the long sides, are crouched two tritons who support a false basin occupied by a naked child sitting on a dolphin.
