Historique
Monument construit de 1953 à 1956 par les architectes Alexandre Persitz et Georges Goldberg, avec Louis Arretche comme architecte-conseil. Le monument, édifié sur un terrain donné par la ville de Paris, comporte une crypte avec le tombeau proprement dit et un centre de documentation historique, avec bureaux, archives et salle de conférences. Sur le parvis dallé, un cylindre en bronze rappelle les noms des principaux camps de la mort. Le centre de documentation est fondé, dans la clandestinité, par Isaac Schneersoon (1881-1961) qui a collecté les fonds pour le mémorial. Les deux vitraux sont dessinés par l'architecte André Bloc. Le monument a été rénové de 1990 à 1992.

History
Monument built from 1953 to 1956 by architects Alexandre Persitz and Georges Goldberg, with Louis Arretche as consulting architect. The monument, erected on land given by the city of Paris, comprises a crypt with the tomb proper and a historical documentation centre, with offices, archives and conference hall. On the paved forecourt, a bronze cylinder recalls the names of the principal death camps. The documentation centre was founded, clandestinely, by Isaac Schneersoon (1881-1961) who collected funds for the memorial. The two stained-glass windows were designed by architect André Bloc. The monument was renovated from 1990 to 1992.
