L'hôtel, situé dans l'île Saint-Louis, a été construit entre 1642 et 1644, par Louis Le Vau pour le conseiller et secrétaire du Roi, Jean-Baptiste Lambert. Son décor a été réalisé par Le Sueur (cabinets de l'Amour, des muses et des Bains) et Le Brun (galerie d'Hercule). C'est un des derniers hôtels privés à posséder une galerie peinte.

History
The hôtel, situated on the Île Saint-Louis, was built between 1642 and 1644, by Louis Le Vau for the counsellor and secretary to the King, Jean-Baptiste Lambert. Its decoration was executed by Le Sueur (cabinets of Love, the Muses and the Baths) and Le Brun (gallery of Hercules). It is one of the last private hôtels to possess a painted gallery.
