La synagogue de la rue Notre-Dame de Nazareth est la plus ancienne synagogue consistoriale de Paris ; elle fut édifiée en 1822 et était à l'origine le siège du Consistoire de Paris ; elle fut fermée en 1850 pour des raisons de sécurité puis rebâtie sous sa forme actuelle en 1852 par J A Thierry. Sa localisation correspond à l'importante communauté juive du IIIème arrondissement au XIXème siècle. L'essentiel des dispositions architecturales et des éléments de décor sont conservés. L'édifice présente un intérêt historique évident et une valeur de témoignage de la liturgie juive.
