Historique
Ce passage, qui relie la rue de Palestro à la rue Saint-Denis, a été ouvert en 1828. Il a été construit par l'architecte Lusson. L'entrée rue de Palestro a été reconstruite par Blondel, lors du percement du boulevard Sébastopol et de la rue de Turbigo. Elle est encadrée par deux cariatides sculptées par A. Millet, représentant le commerce et l'industrie. La clef de voûte de l'arcade d'entrée porte une ruche, symbole de l'activité économique. L'élévation est à arcade sur les deux premiers niveaux avec boutiques et logements en entresol. Une verrière, légèrement cintrée, sans ferme, surmonte le passage ; elle a été refaite.

History
This passage, which connects rue de Palestro to rue Saint-Denis, was opened in 1828. It was built by the architect Lusson. The entrance on rue de Palestro was rebuilt by Blondel, during the opening of boulevard Sébastopol and rue de Turbigo. It is framed by two caryatids sculptured by A. Millet, representing commerce and industry. The keystone of the entrance arcade bears a beehive, symbol of economic activity. On the rue Saint-Denis side, the entrance to the passage is very simple; short and narrow, it is of the same type as that of Choiseul (Mérimée notice PA00086088) and Vendôme (Mérimée notice PA00086231). The elevation consists of arcades on the two first levels with shops and mezzanine dwellings. A glazed roof, slightly arched, without girders, surmounts the passage; it has been remade.
