L'hôtel fut construit par François Mansart vers 1645, pour Mazarin. La bibliothèque Mazarine, le Salon de Madame de Lambert et le Cabinet des Médailles du Roi y furent successivement installés (au 18e siècle pour ce dernier). Aujourd'hui, l'immeuble dépend de la Bibliothèque Nationale ; le Centre International de Synthèse s'y est installé au cours de l'année 1928. Il communiquait autrefois avec la Bibliothèque Nationale par les étages supérieurs. Il subsiste l'amorce de la voûte qui franchissait jadis la rue. Louvel, l'assassin du duc de Berry, fut arrêté sous cette arcade.

History
The hôtel was built by François Mansart around 1645, for Mazarin. The Mazarine Library, the Salon de Madame de Lambert and the Cabinet des Médailles du Roi were successively installed there (in the 18th century for the latter). Today, the building belongs to the Bibliothèque Nationale; the Centre International de Synthèse established itself there in the course of 1928. It once communicated with the Bibliothèque Nationale through the upper stories. There remains the beginning of the vault which once spanned the street. Louvel, the assassin of the Duke of Berry, was arrested under this arcade.
