Historique
Emplacement occupé, depuis la seconde moitié du 16e siècle, par la Cour de l'abbaye de Pairis. Les anciennes constructions furent démolies en 1778 et remplacées par l'Hôtel actuel (1779 à 1782). Déclaré bien national, après 1789, il devint siège de la Préfecture du Haut-Rhin, puis, après la construction de la Préfecture actuelle, celui de l'administration municipale. C'est un bâtiment à la façade relativement simple, comprenant deux étages surmontés d'une toiture à comble brisé. Le décor architectural se concentre sur la partie centrale. Faisant légèrement faillie, elle contient, au rez-de-chaussée, la porte d'entrée flanquée de deux fenêtres, le tout bordé de chaînes de pierres taillées au-dessus, un entablement supporté par quatre paires de consoles. Se basant sur cet entablement, quatre pilastres, lisses, montent jusqu'au haut des étages ; l'avant-corps est, enfin, surmonté d'un fronton triangulaire, dans le tympan duquel figurent les armes de la Ville de Colmar, dans un décor sculpté. History
Location occupied, since the second half of the 16th century, by the Court of Pairis Abbey. The former buildings were demolished in 1778 and replaced by the current Hotel (1779 to 1782). Declared national property after 1789, it became the seat of the Prefecture of Haut-Rhin, then, after the construction of the current Prefecture, that of municipal administration. It is a building with a relatively simple façade, comprising two storeys surmounted by a roof with broken slope. Architectural decoration concentrates on the central section. Projecting slightly, it contains, on the ground floor, the entrance door flanked by two windows, all bordered by chains of dressed stone; above, an entablature supported by four pairs of consoles. Based on this entablature, four smooth pilasters rise to the top of the storeys; the forward section is, finally, surmounted by a triangular pediment, in the tympanum of which appear the coats of arms of the City of Colmar, in carved decoration. On the first storey, in front of the central window is a small wrought-iron balcony, bounded by the two medial pilasters.
