Historique
Utilisant l'énergie hydraulique de l'Ill, l'usine de production de glace Klareiswerke zur Dünzenmühle date de 1897. L'occupation de ce site est plus ancienne, certains éléments des vannes portant la date de 1815. L'usine puisait l'eau dans la nappe phréatique pour fabriquer les blocs de glace livrés au commerce. Elle a été agrandie en 1903 et de nouveau en 1912, puis modernisée en 1930, avant de cesser toute production en 1990. History
Using the hydraulic energy of the Ill, the Klareiswerke zur Dünzenmühle ice production plant dates from 1897. The occupation of this site is older, with some elements of the sluices bearing the date 1815. The plant drew water from the water table to manufacture blocks of ice delivered to commerce. It was enlarged in 1903 and again in 1912, then modernized in 1930, before ceasing all production in 1990. Technical equipment, such as the turbines (three Francis turbines, one of which dates from 1897) and the compressors, supplied by the Quiri company, based in Schiltigheim and specializing in refrigeration installations, is still partially in place. It was planned to convert the whole into a site museum, near the hotel which occupies part of the premises.
