Historique
Le château existait dès la fin du 13e siècle. Des modifications ont été apportées à ses défenses par Gaston Fébus. Il a été partiellement démantelé en 1622. Son plan dessine un quadrilatère irrégulier flanqué de sept tours. Au milieu du mur sud s'ouvre une porte percée dans une tour carrée dont l'étage inférieur, servant de passage, est voûté d'ogives. Ce portau est commandé par la tour d'angle sud-ouest. La même disposition est répétée au nord où une poterne est ouverte dans une autre tour carrée, elle-même dominée par une tour ronde. Vers l'ouest, la courtine est flanquée de deux tours. A l'est se trouvent les vestiges d'un corps de logis. La septième tour a disparu en 1740. Aucun reste de donjon. Sur trois faces subsiste une courtine découronnée avec chemin de ronde sur encorbellement intérieur.

History
The castle existed from the end of the 13th century. Modifications were made to its defences by Gaston Fébus. It was partially dismantled in 1622. Its plan forms an irregular quadrilateral flanked by seven towers. In the middle of the south wall opens a gate pierced in a square tower, the lower storey of which, serving as a passage, is vaulted with ribs. This gate is commanded by the south-west corner tower. The same arrangement is repeated to the north where a postern is opened in another square tower, itself dominated by a round tower. Towards the west, the curtain wall is flanked by two towers. To the east are found the remains of a dwelling block. The seventh tower disappeared in 1740. No remains of a keep. On three faces survives a crenellated curtain wall with wall-walk on internal corbelling.
