Historique
D'après la tradition, une église est bâtie en 890 à l'emplacement d'un temple de Mars. La première cathédrale, romane, a sans doute été édifiée entre 1125 et 1150. Lui succède la construction gothique, réalisée du 13e au 15e siècle. Aux 17e et 18e siècles, construction du beffroi sur le clocher sud et d'un dôme impérial ; le choeur est entouré d'un décor menuisé. A la Révolution, l'édifice est utilisé comme grenier à foin puis rendu au culte en 1802. A partir de 1851, restauration et achèvement de l'édifice par Boeswillwald avec tours, flèches... et disparition de la galerie nord du cloître. Ces travaux s'achèvent en 1930, modifiant l'édifice d'origine.

History
According to tradition, a church was built in 890 at the location of a temple of Mars. The first cathedral, Romanesque, was probably built between 1125 and 1150. It was succeeded by Gothic construction, carried out from the 13th to the 15th century. In the 17th and 18th centuries, construction of the belfry on the south bell tower and of an imperial dome; the choir was surrounded by wooden decoration. At the Revolution, the building was used as a hay barn and then returned to worship in 1802. From 1851, restoration and completion of the building by Boeswillwald with towers, spires... and disappearance of the north gallery of the cloister. These works were completed in 1930, modifying the original building.
