Historique

History
The place appears for the first time in a charter of the abbey of Roncevaux in 1189, which founded a hospital there for pilgrims travelling to Saint-Jacques de Compostelle. In 1569, the baron of Sénégas, sent by Montgomery, set fire to most of the noble houses in the Soule region which had subsequently to be rebuilt. The château currently consists of two main dwellings of the 17th or 18th century, flanked by two large towers of the 15th century. The interior preserves oak panelling of the 18th century in a dining room, surmounted by panels formed by moulded plaster frames. In the great hall, nothing remains of the old decoration except a fine oak fireplace of the 18th century and a ceiling of very well moulded beams.
