Historique

History
The keep already existed in the 13th century. In 1305, the lord received royal authorization to fortify the building. The old fortress was transformed in the 15th century and the ramparts built. The Renaissance château was built around 1539 beside the first one, to which it was joined in the 17th century by a pavilion. The main entrance opens at the centre of the building. This door is framed by four marble columns with Corinthian capitals, supporting a moulded cornice with an entablature. A circular and broken pediment bears at its centre, in a square panel flanked by acanthus leaves, the arms of Lauzun. A second door, framed by two fluted pilasters supporting a small entablature, opens at the right end of the façade. A pavilion built in the 17th century, restored and completed in the 18th, rises perpendicularly to the façade, covered with a keel roof which earned it the nickname "the dome". Roman votive altar from the 2nd century.
