Historique
Les chevaliers de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem de la commanderie de Nomdieu, créèrent un établissement dépendant de cette commanderie dans la paroisse d'Avance avant 1260. De 1780 à 1790, la Tour d'Avance fut réunie à Cours, détaché de la commanderie d'Argenteins pour constituer une nouvelle commanderie. Tour carrée à l'un des angles de laquelle est accolée une tour ronde d'escalier. Elle comporte quatre étages éclairés sur trois des faces par des ouvertures percées à une époque postérieure. La troisième face n'est percée que de meurtrières. Cette tour renforçait l'angle nord-ouest d'une enceinte qui enfermait les dépendances et une chapelle actuellement en ruines. La couverture en tuiles canal a remplacé celle d'origine qui devait être normalement en terrasse.

History
The Knights of Saint-Jean de Jérusalem of the commandery of Nomdieu established a dependency of this commandery in the parish of Avance before 1260. From 1780 to 1790, the Tour d'Avance was united with Cours, detached from the commandery of Argenteins to constitute a new commandery. Square tower at one of the corners of which is attached a round tower serving as a staircase. It comprises four storeys lit on three of the faces by openings made at a later period. The third face is pierced only by loopholes. This tower reinforced the north-west corner of an enclosure which contained the outbuildings and a chapel currently in ruins. The roof covering in curved tiles has replaced the original covering which must normally have been in terrace.
