History
The château was constructed in the first half of the 18th century for a wealthy family of Bayonne merchants, the Roll-Montpellier, who acceded to the office of échevins of the city in 1725. It was completed by a vast complex of outbuildings in the 19th century. The château is representative of country houses built in the regions of Bas-Adour for the local bourgeoisie in the classical period. Of simple architecture, the building consists of a rectangular main dwelling flanked by two pavilions and opens onto the river by a paved terrace and landing. Inside, the vestibule retains a wrought iron staircase railing from the beginning of the 18th century.
