La seigneurie d'Hontanx est attestée dès le début du XIIe siècle, et son château mentionné pour la première fois en 1279. Alors que la chapelle castrale Saint-Blaise date de la fin du XIe ou du début du XIIe siècle et fut agrandie au XIVe siècle, la maison forte a vraisemblablement été bâtie vers 1300, à l'emplacement d'un bâtiment en bois. Les deux bâtiments s'élèvent sur une motte castrale. Au XVIIe ou XVIIIe siècle, un corps de logis est adjoint à la maison forte. La mairie, propriétaire, a aujourd'hui un projet de restauration et réutilisation de la maison forte.
Description
La chapelle possède une nef unique, un chevet polygonal, deux chapelle latérales formant transept, rajoutées au XIVe siècle. Des restes de fresques, datant vraisemblablement du XVIIe siècle, sont visibles. La maison forte est un bâtiment massif, possédant peu d'ouvertures, mais qui sont pour la plupart anciennes. A l'intérieur, on devine les niveaux d'occupation antérieurs, mais les planchers ont disparu. Une peinture murale médiévale, représentant une figure féminine, est conservée.

History
The seigneurie of Hontanx is attested from the beginning of the 12th century, and its castle mentioned for the first time in 1279. While the castral chapel of Saint-Blaise dates from the end of the 11th or beginning of the 12th century and was enlarged in the 14th century, the main dwelling was probably built around 1300, on the location of a timber building. The two buildings rise on a castral motte. In the 17th or 18th century, a body of main dwelling is adjoined to the main dwelling. The town hall, owner, today has a project for restoration and reuse of the main dwelling.
Description
The chapel possesses a single nave, a polygonal chevet, two lateral chapels forming a transept, added in the 14th century. Remains of frescoes, probably dating from the 17th century, are visible. The main dwelling is a massive building, possessing few openings, but which are for the most part ancient. Inside, the levels of earlier occupation can be made out, but the floorings have disappeared. A medieval wall painting, representing a female figure, is preserved.
