Les premiers seigneurs connus de ce château dont la tradition fait remonter l'origine à l'invasion arabe, apparaissent au 14e siècle. Acheté en 1609 par la famille de Montesquieu, le manoir ravagé par la Fronde puis restauré, voit probablement la naissance de l'écrivain en 1716. Le pavillon nord-ouest, le logis ouest contigu et un mur vestige d'un pavillon sud-ouest détruit, remontent aux 15e et 16e siècles. Le pavillon nord-est semble de la fin du 16e siècle ou du 17e. La dépendance contigüe date de la fin du 17e ou du début du 18e siècle. Le cuvier sud a été refait vers 1900.

History
The first known lords of this castle whose tradition traces its origin to the Arab invasion, appear in the 14th century. Purchased in 1609 by the Montesquieu family, the manor ravaged by the Fronde then restored, probably sees the birth of the writer in 1716. The north-west pavilion, the contiguous west dwelling and a wall vestige of a destroyed south-west pavilion, date from the 15th and 16th centuries. The north-east pavilion appears to be from the end of the 16th century or the 17th. The adjacent dependency dates from the end of the 17th or the beginning of the 18th century. The south vat house was remade around 1900.
