Historique

History
Above the sanctuary rises a high square crenellated tower, reinforced at the angles by thick buttresses rising from the bottom to the top. This fortified bell tower dates to the 13th century. Its west wall is pierced by high pointed arcades. To the north is found the door to the staircase. This staircase leads above the choir into a room of the same dimensions as the latter and sheltered by a heavy roof with three pitches whose present roof structure rests on the crenellations. This room could serve as a refuge if needed, but the military disposition of the building results above all from the arrangements of its crown. Between the gutter and the crenellated parapet is found a small narrow ledge forming a passage serving as a wall-walk. Redoubts are disposed as bartizans on the head of the buttresses; the square holes on each face of the buttresses facilitated the placement of hoardings.
