The first fortress was an abrupt motte, ten to twelve metres high, whose base was formed by the rock. It had been isolated from the plateau by a deep cut which was transformed into a bailey during the enlargement of the castle in the 13th century. The latter consisted of two main parts: the castle proper, framing an interior courtyard, and a bailey surrounded by ramparts protected by a wide moat. To the south, a barbican defended the entrance. The 17th-century castle presents a main dwelling framed by two pavilions topped with pyramidal roofs and, on the courtyard, a wing at right angles. A 17th-century balustrade terrace joins the two pavilions on the main façade. The porch is framed by projecting stone. Circular pediment cut with a central motif.
