History

The church originates from the Romanesque period but only the square chevet from the late 12th century remains from that era, along with part of the northern lateral wall and the portal with multiple projections whose archivolts were richly decorated. The building comprises two naves whose vaults rest on massive cylindrical columns. The ribs of the vaults indicate the early 16th century. They are arranged in a star pattern with decorated keystones at the centre and at the intersection of the liernes and tiercerons. From the 18th century date the bell tower with arcades, the door in the southern lateral wall, the sacristy and the large porch which precedes the portal. A remnant of a small watchtower, at the south-west corner, indicates a concern for defence.
