Château construit par les grands-parents d'Etienne de La Boëtie, l'illustre ami de Montaigne, qui y passa les premières années de sa vie. Anne, la soeur d'Etienne, hérita du château et le transmit à son fils, qui vit la demeure détruite lors des guerres de religion en 1589. Il reconstruisit tout de suite après la demeure actuelle. Un chemin donne accès à une terrasse sur laquelle est construite l'habitation constituée d'un haut corps de logis rectangulaire cantonné de tours rondes (la tour sud contient un escalier en vis desservant sur chaque niveau les deux grandes salles intérieures). En contrebas de la terrasse, est établi un pigeonnier circulaire. L'ancien moulin de Cluzel est construit sur le ruisseau, la Cuze, de l'autre côté de la route ; dénommé moulin de La Boëtie dès 1507, il est constitué d'un bâtiment bas comportant des meules horizontales encore en place et d'un autre bâtiment à étage qui était l'ancien logis du meunier.

History
Castle built by the grandparents of Etienne de La Boëtie, the illustrious friend of Montaigne, who spent the first years of his life there. Anne, Etienne's sister, inherited the castle and transmitted it to her son, who saw the dwelling destroyed during the Wars of Religion in 1589. He immediately rebuilt the present dwelling. A path gives access to a terrace on which is constructed the dwelling consisting of a tall rectangular main dwelling flanked by round towers (the south tower contains a spiral staircase serving on each level the two large interior rooms). Below the terrace is established a circular dovecot. The old mill of Cluzel is built on the stream, the Cuze, on the other side of the road; named the mill of La Boëtie from 1507, it consists of a low building containing horizontal millstones still in place and another building with a storey which was the old lodging of the miller.
