Historique
Cette abbaye est l'une des quatre abbayes cisterciennes du Périgord. Dépendant de la vicomté de Limoges, elle fut fondée au début du 12e siècle. De la chapelle, il reste la partie romane à ouvertures cintrées sur la face nord et ouest, ainsi que des colonnes à chapiteaux du 14e siècle sur la face est. La salle capitulaire, à gros pilier central, a été englobée dans les bâtiments du 17e siècle, formant le château actuel qui se compose d'un corps de logis barlong prolongé au nord par les ruines de la chapelle et terminé au sud par un pavillon faisant saillie. Le site se trouve dans un vallon arrosé par le Dalon, selon la coutume cistercienne qui établissait ses monastères dans des fonds irrigués par des sources.

History
This abbey is one of the four Cistercian abbeys of Périgord. Depending on the viscounty of Limoges, it was founded in the early 12th century. Of the chapel, there remains the Romanesque part with round openings on the north and west faces, as well as columns with capitals of the 14th century on the east face. The chapter hall, with large central pillar, was incorporated into the 17th-century buildings, forming the present château which is composed of a rectangular main dwelling extended to the north by the ruins of the chapel and terminated to the south by a projecting pavilion. The site is located in a valley watered by the Dalon, according to Cistercian custom which established its monasteries in bottoms irrigated by springs.
