En 1500, Odet d'Aydie et son épouse, Anne de Pons, signaient la charte de fondation d'une collégiale à Riberac, faite l'année précédente et qui devait avoir en jouissance la vieille chapelle féodale de leur château. Le chapitre était composé de six chanoines et se maintint jusqu'à la Révolution. Après la Révolution, l'ancienne chapelle castrale devint église paroissiale jusqu'à sa désaffectation relativement récente. L'édifice subit les vicissitudes des guerres de Religion et fut en partie détruit par un incendie. Le choeur sous coupole est suivi d'une abside semi-circulaire. Une vis, ménagée dans la pile nord-ouest, donne accès au clocher situé sur le choeur. La nef lambrissée date de 1836, hormis les parties encadrant le choeur, datées du 15e siècle. Des peintures murales d'inspiration Renaissance et baroque, datant sans doute du réaménagement de l'église au 19e siècle, se trouvent sur l'abside et la croisée du transept. La voûte en cul de four de l'abside est remplie de caissons traités en fausse perspective. Au-dessous, des représentations de saints garnissent des niches réalisées en trompe l'oeil. Sur la coupole, des angelots portant des phylactères, entourent la Vierge. Les pendentifs reçoivent les quatre Evangélistes. Sur les diaphragmes des arcs nord et sud, des allégories glorifient l'innocence et la foi.

History
In 1500, Odet d'Aydie and his wife, Anne de Pons, signed the charter of foundation of a collegiate church at Riberac, made the previous year and which was to enjoy the old feudal chapel of their castle. The chapter was composed of six canons and was maintained until the Revolution. After the Revolution, the old castle chapel became a parish church until its relatively recent deconsecration. The building suffered the vicissitudes of the Wars of Religion and was partly destroyed by fire. The choir under a dome is followed by a semi-circular apse. A spiral staircase, arranged in the north-west pier, gives access to the bell tower situated on the choir. The panelled nave dates from 1836, except for the parts framing the choir, dated to the 15th century. Wall paintings of Renaissance and Baroque inspiration, probably dating from the refurbishment of the church in the 19th century, are found on the apse and the crossing of the transept. The cove vault of the apse is filled with coffers treated in false perspective. Below, representations of saints adorn niches created in trompe-l'oeil. On the dome, little angels bearing phylacteries surround the Virgin. The pendentives receive the four Evangelists. On the diaphragms of the north and south arches, allegories glorify innocence and faith.
