History
This building appears to have had the function of watching over the entrance to the town by the old bridge of the Barris. According to Viollet-le-Duc, the échauguette was generally a temporary construction and did not have quite the same function as the bretèche: plunging fire does not seem to have been possible here. Built overhanging and astride the rampart, the échauguette is maintained by corbels and pieces of wood engaged for this purpose in the wall. Built in timber framing and covered in flat tiles. A central chimney with two hearths divides the single room in two.
