Exemple typique de château périgourdin. Le plan se compose d'un grand corps de bâtiment construit en bordure d'une terrasse dominant la rivière, et d'une aile en retour d'équerre. Un pavillon contenant l'escalier sert de liaison entre ces deux constructions. L'aménagement intérieur est constitué par une succession de salles se commandant les unes les autres. Tous les angles sont garnis de petites tourelles en encorbellement. Au deuxième étage est accolé un chemin de ronde porté sur des mâchicoulis, interrompu au droit de chaque fenêtre. Les fenêtres sont couronnées par des lucarnes. Bien que certains détails de décoration appartiennent au style Renaissance, tout dans cet édifice est d'un esprit entièrement gothique. Sa construction se situe entre 1520 et 1530. Toutes les fenêtres, avec leurs meneaux et leurs appuis, ont une mouluration spécifiquement 15e siècle. Le linteau de l'ancienne porte conserve un décor d'initiales reliées par de fines cordelettes. Au 18e siècle, certains aménagements furent apportés. Une chapelle fut installée à l'extrémité de l'aile sur rivière. Au centre de cette même aile, un salon polygonal faisant avant-corps central, fut ajouté. History
Typical example of a Périgord château. The plan consists of a large main building constructed along the edge of a terrace overlooking the river, and a wing set at right angles. A pavilion containing the staircase serves as a link between these two buildings. The interior arrangement is made up of a succession of rooms opening into one another. All the angles are furnished with small corbelled turrets. On the second floor a wall-walk carried on machicolations is attached, interrupted at the level of each window. The windows are crowned by dormers. Although certain decorative details belong to the Renaissance style, everything in this edifice is entirely Gothic in spirit. Its construction dates between 1520 and 1530. All the windows, with their mullions and sills, have moulding specifically of the 15th century. The lintel of the old door retains decoration of initials linked by fine cord-like ornaments. In the 18th century, certain alterations were made. A chapel was installed at the end of the river wing. In the centre of this same wing, a polygonal salon forming a central projection was added. The old 16th-century door was blocked and replaced by another door, decorated with pilasters and a circular pediment.
