Ces fortifications ont été élevées à partir du 13ème siècle. Des travaux de réparation sont attestés aux 17ème et 18ème siècle sur les remparts, les portes ainsi que les tours. Après la cession des remparts par la commune en 1860, leur état de conservation subira une nette dégradation. En 1862, un plan indique que l'ensemble des fortifications était encore visible en élévation. Actuellement, la partie la plus monumentale est la propriété de la ville et s'étend sur plusieurs centaines de mètres.

History
These fortifications were erected from the 13th century onwards. Repair works are attested in the 17th and 18th centuries on the ramparts, gates and towers. After the cession of the ramparts by the commune in 1860, their state of preservation suffered a marked deterioration. In 1862, a plan indicates that all the fortifications were still visible in elevation. Currently, the most monumental part is the property of the city and extends over several hundred metres.
