Les chantiers navals de la Seyne-sur-Mer sont créés en 1856 et produisent essentiellement des bâtiments pour la marine marchande. Le pont-levis est dessiné en 1914 et construit de 1915 à 1917 par l'entreprise Daydé et Pillé pour les Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranée. History
The shipyards of La Seyne-sur-Mer were created in 1856 and produced essentially vessels for the merchant navy. The drawbridge was designed in 1914 and built from 1915 to 1917 by the firm Daydé et Pillé for the Forges and Shipyards of the Mediterranean. Intended to carry the PLM railway line to the shipyards, the metal structure, financed by war damages, comprises a lifting span of 40 metres in length, weighing 123 tonnes, driven by an electric motor. The pivots of the articulations were changed in 1927 and in 1961, but, having been out of use since the closure of the shipyards in the 1980s, the bridge is poorly maintained and remains in the raised position.
